A chronic illness, such as diabetes, can make you feel robbed of many choices you once took for granted. At the Diabetes Center at Regional Medical Center, our team of qualified professionals can help you successfully manage your diabetes and feel in control of your life again. We'll help you better understand your condition, including the health consequences of lifestyle choices. Our specialists will work with you to develop and adopt an individualized diet, exercise and treatment plan that will help control your condition and prevent diabetes complications. Getting Started Most insurance companies require a physician's order or referral to cover Diabetes Center services. If you do not have a physician and would like more information about the physicians in your area, call Nurse Connect at 205-752-5050 for a free, confidential referral. During your initial visits to the Diabetes Center, a certified diabetes educator will conduct a complete assessment to determine your overall health and the status of your disease. This assessment includes consulting with your primary care physician, as well as regular monitoring of your blood sugar levels. Once your health status has been determined, our professional team will work to devise a management plan that is right for you. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call the Diabetes Center at 205-752-4040. |
